update for the month

I've been meaning to update this but life has gotten pretty busy. Not to mention I just landed a computer programming job which I am pretty excited about so money won't be so much of a stress machine than before. This month I have shot weddings, promos, couples, yada yada.

Also, I am starting like primes more than anything else which is a good change for me I think.

Also, me and my girlfriend are starting a funday photo blog where we will take 1 creative portrait of each other once a week. I think this will help me grow creatively and get me better at lighting as well. So keep an eye out for that. http://fundayphotos.blogspot.com is the URL so you should follow that because we put it into action starting this week!

New behind the scenes video

I'm going to make it a habit doing these for my more lighting intense shoots. I think its fun and I get to mess with video(what little I know)

Quick video on how I got some of the images. It was cold and I did not feel like having to plug in three alienbees so I went with my trusty speedlights since I didn't require too much power. I would have liked to use umbrellas/softboxes as rim but I can't always have my way.

This shoot was overall fun and laid back. No pressure at all and just having at it with my lights. Needless to say it WAS pretty damn cold and a little windy but we managed to get through the day. Overall I believe we did about 5 outfit changes and 3 makeup changes.. I think, summed up to about a 7 hour day but by now I am definitely used to it. Also, big thanks to Justin(7citiesphoto) who helped me the entire day and helped record behind the scenes video. SO YES, I will be making a behind the scenes video finally! I am pretty excited so we'll see how awful my editing is.

Anyways, here are the shots!

Windy Day

Got a chance to shoot with William Coyle who is an awesome local photographer and storm chaser. ONLY bad part was that we were shooting 30mph winds on a beach which was the worst idea ever haha. I had my lights setup but the wind did not want to cooperate so natural light + reflectors the rest of the day. These shots just consist of a newlywed couple and their best friend. Overall I am happy with these, it feels good to not shoot with flashes all the time :)

Photoshop Walk-Thru

I decided to give a quick walk through on how I edited the Raquel image. This was pretty spur of the moment. It is pretty vague but gives you the rundown on how I do things.
